Scary Logos Wiki

Sega (1991) is a video game logo where the SEGA logo is shown against a white screen while a rather loud choir of voices chant, "Segaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!". It has been known to scare first viewers and has been parodied many times on YouTube and on TV shows.

Additional Info

Sega is a video game company that is known for being the creator and developer of the Sonic the Hedgehog video games. This logo was shown before playing 1991's Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis.

Other Variants

There have been different versions of this in different games. From 1991-1993 in Japan at the end of most Sega commercials, a stop motion Sonic would jump around the Sega logo. There is no individual link to the logo, but it is found in the video underneath. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic runs across the Sega logo while the choir chants the Sega song. In Sonic 3D Blast, rather than the choir, a screaming man's voice yells loudly, "SEGA!!!". In later versions of the logo in the 2000s is a deep voice saying "Sega" while the Sega logo floats across multiple colors on a black screen.

Scare Factor

Video Game Versions: Low. The sudden loud chorus may unnerve some, but it also makes this logo a favorite among the gaming crowd.

Stop-Motion Variant: Low to medium; besides the Japanese commercials looking weird themselves, the way Sonic jumps around as the Sega logo appears is really weird.

Sonic 3D Blast Variant: Low (bordering on medium). You wouldn’t expect the yelling as it may get to some.

Later Versions (2000s): None to low.
