Scary Logos Wiki

This is the list of Scare Factors contributors should use on their pages.

None

Something not scary at all or might have a tad bit of scary elements. Easy to get used to. Here's an example: Pixar; The lamp crushing the "I" and looking at us will startle young viewers, but it's humorous for others, and we get used to it over time.

Minimal

Close to none, though it has a little more elements that can be scary. Here's an example: ACME Productions; The wrecking crushing the TV is sure to get to some, but it's intended to be funny.

Low

Not scary, but has a few scary elements in it. Here's an example:  BBC Two - Optics; Due to the darkness and somewhat slightly ominous music.

Medium

Not overly scary, but can scare someone, as it also has scary elements. Here are 2 examples: WFAA; This is due to the darkness, weird text transitions and loud, annoying, high-pitched synth piece. U.S. Manga Corps; This is due to the music, the dark atmosphere, and the gunshot.

High

Scary and could easily be frightening to certain people. Here's an example: Media Blasters (2nd logo); Because of the PS2 RSOD-like nature, music and zooming, it can cause many scares.

Nightmare

The most popular of the bunch. Nightmare is the scariest factor a logo can get. They can easily give people, especially children and sensitive people, nightmares. These include:

  • Jumpscares (Such as Horror Factory and Video Game Videos)
  • Eyes, especially in close-up shot (Such as Fabrica and Vadi-Mon)
  • Loud logos (Such as Ismail Productions, Amaco Productions, Colombiana de Television and Ramsay Films)
  • Dark logos (Such as Cocinor)
  • Logos with corpses (Such as Team Happy Rainbow Panda Bears, MTM St Elsewhere Final Episode Variant and Timpson Films)
  • Logos with blood/gore (Such as Deep Water, Bloody Disgusting and BBC Two Halloween Idents 1 and 3)
  • Zooming logos (Such as WGBH's Zooming logo)
  • Seizure-inducing logos (such as Ear Booker Productions, As-soft and Asymmetrical)

And many more.

Official notice: Nightmare is the highest Scare Factor. There are no such Scare Factors as Chill, Fright, Horror, Heart Attack or any others. If you put one of these as a Scare Factor it will be changed to a suitable one and you will be warned. They are also not called Scare Ranks and numbers aren't suitable for ratings. Please use None, Minimal, Low, Medium, High or Nightmare only. Between factors (eg Low to medium) are also allowed, except for none to nightmare because that kind of defeats the point. What we mean is that none to nightmare is basically just all the scare factors in one.
