Logos[]
1st logo (1994-1995): On a black background, a smiling goblin-like creature and text that says "MASSIVE PICTURES" fade in.
2nd logo (1996-): The camera zooms through a dark library, and when it reaches the end, the same goblin and text from the previous logo is seen fading in on a black background.
Variants:[]
There is a DVD version.
There is also a version where when the goblin appears, a loud scream is heard. The library is also significantly darker. This variant is extremely rare.
3rd logo (1998): A purple and black spiral is seen, then the goblin from the previous 2 logos is seen spinning in the distance. The spiral then fades out, the goblin stops, and the logo fades in.
4th Logo (April 4th, 2016):
We see a very dark purple background, then someone puts a picture frame with the disturbing goblin on it. Someone takes it down after 3 seconds. They replace it with a picture frame that says: a MASsIve PictUres ProdUCTiOn; in the same font as before. We zoom in, then the screen flashes as fast as it can, similar to the Ear Booker Productions logo, but slightly slower, more like 3/4 flashes a second. Then we see the goblin fade in from the 1st logo, and fades out, along with the supporting text.
The only surfaced screenshot.
Availability:
On many horror movies this company made from 1996-2019, (because that’s when they went on a hiatus and so far they aren’t gonna be back in the next two years)
Music/Sounds[]
1st logo: Moog Statement 14, the same fanfare used in Crown Movie Classics, Worldvision Home Video, Worldvision Enterprises, Media West Home Video, and Cobra Media.
2nd logo: A fanfare reminiscent of the Sega Saturn startup.
3rd logo: A psychedelic synth tune.
4th logo: A slowed version of a piano tune, then the same music from the 1st logo.
Scare Factor[]
- 1st logo: Nightmare: The black background and VHS quality, combined with the goblin taking up a large portion of the screen, and the fanfare make the logo very eerie and unsettling. However, this could be lower depending on how cheesy one finds the logo.
- 2nd logo: Medium to Nightmare: While the juxtaposition of the goblin within the library might seem like a jumpscare, the calming music, more colorful atmosphere, and cheesy jumpcut to black make it seem much tamer and more comedic rather than nightmarish.
- 3rd logo: High to Nightmare: The music and spiral background make the logo seems distorted and glitchy, which makes it more unnerving, however the cheesy flipping animation of the goblin weakens it's scare factor considerably.
- 4th Logo: Nightmare. The extremely deformed and ugly image of the goblin, and it taking up literally 70 percent of the screen absolutely will throw a lot off, along with the uncanny font, and the scary music all throughout the logo.
Trivia[]
- Each logo: The “goblin creature” is actually Yummer from SpongeBob SquarePants.
- The text is fanmade.
- 2nd logo: The dark library is actually the source from the Super Why! Pilot.
