Scary Logos Wiki

Background[]

KCFD-TV was a television station, licensed to the Midwest and Southeast United States, that was formerly a member of the Overcast Broadcasting network. It launched on February 14, 1979, as "KTV" (short for Kâlenitelevis, Kalennian for "Kalennian Television"), founded and run by members of the Kalennian-speaking diaspora. Overcast took full ownership on November 22, 2009, and the station received a rebranding by Gretel on October 12, 2011. KCFD-TV aired imported English-language programs that were dubbed into the Kalennian language by the Kentucky-based studio BlueGrass Inc. It also included a children's programming block that doubled as a separate TV channel, Yabkân TV, airing the same imported, dubbed programming for a younger audience. Ownership reverted to the original owners, and the station rebranded back to KTV in January 2012 for New Year's Day, one day after Overcast ceased operations. Today, KTV is broadcast globally through its international channel, KTVG (KTV International). It continues to air imported, English-language programming dubbed into Kalennian (with help from BlueGrass) alongside original animated series. KTV currently features three distinct programming blocks under its umbrella: KTV Yalkânni, a children's block dedicated to Kalennian-language animated programs; KTV Musik, which airs music videos subtitled in Kalennian; and KTV Ivmarga, a television block that broadcasts daily news and information for Kalennian viewers (mostly adults aged 18-49) worldwide.

1st logo (2009-2010)[]

Nicknames: "Overcast Is Watching You", "Kalennian Jumpscare", "The Bumper With The Scary-Ass Violin"

Logo: On a sunset background, we zoom out to see the white letters K, C, F, and D spinning around erratically, along with the Kalennian color-schemed Overcast logo flying and spinning around as well. Once the spinning stops, the 4 letters fade from white to blue in sync with the station's jingle (mentioned below); the last note of said jingle has the Kalennian Overcast logo zoom in abruptly, and zoom back out into its original position. We see the text "Kanâl 2 - Sautaekâle & Tsakarabâlte" (meaning "Channel 2 - Southeast and Midwest" in Kalennian) slide up after this happens.

FX: 3D animation, done by Gretel.

Music/Sounds: A high-pitched violin string, which then fades out after a climactic ambient horn tune plays. The tune then cuts to the station's 5-note jingle, as the letters fade to blue along with the Kalennian Overcast logo's zooming in and out in sync. During all this, a Kalennian announcer says "Malpublikâtosa dântro yâ tsakarabâlte âd sautaekâle gâdisni go Âmerikadâsorya, dâb â malsoretkâsa yâ bândesâr go âstarKâlenitelevis..." (“Broadcasting within the Midwest and Southeast areas of America, you are watching the leader of all Kalennian television...”). The announcer then says the name of the station, and its channel number ("Kanâl kenyo", "Channel two").

Scare Factor: Low to medium. The music, and the Kalennian Overcast logo zooming in and out abruptly (in sync with the music) can catch some people watching the station off-guard. Either way, this is a very tame logo.

2nd logo (2010-2011)[]

Nicknames: "Black, Blue & White", "Is That A Black Choir?"

Logo: Against a sky background, we see the Kalennian flag waving. Then, the sky and the flag both fade out, as we see the KCFD-TV logo fade in and zoom out.

FX: 2D animation, combined with live-action for the Kalennian flag.

Music/Sounds: A female (possibly Black) choir singing, along with dreamy music.

Trivia: This ident was also used as the shutdown bumper every time KCFD-TV shut down at 12:00 am (00:00 m.d. in the Kalennian clock).

Scare Factor: Low to none.
