InTru 3D was a brand that identifies content that may be viewed in stereoscopic 3D. Motion pictures or other visual media bearing the brand are developed through animation technology developed by Intel Corporation in partnership with DreamWorks Animation in 2008. InTru 3D enables animators to author films directly in 3D for what is described as "a more realistic 3D experience." Animated films authored with InTru 3D are shown in theaters using 3D stereoscopic projection technology such as that provided by Real D Cinema and IMAX 3D which both require polarized glasses to view the 3D films.

The InTru 3D brand was announced at the Intel Developer Forum on August 20, 2008 during Renee James’ keynote. The first feature film produced by DreamWorks utilizing InTru 3D was Monsters vs. Aliens (2009). The last feature film produced by DreamWorks utilizing InTru 3D was Puss in Boots (2011). DreamWorks Animation has also released other films in stereoscopic 3D utilizing InTru3D, such as Megamind (2010) and Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011),

Intel has also announced that it plans to work on developing and promoting the use of InTru 3D to create a broad range of next-generation 3D viewing experiences and technology on a range of other platforms, including home theater, personal computers, video games, online environments and mobile devices.

An InTru 3D commercial was shown at the end of the second quarter of Super Bowl XLIII. which was using the ColorCode 3-D system to enable it to be viewed in 3D on TV in all households.

Logo 1: (2008-2011)[]

Over a room made out of metal plates, we see a ball bouncing, leaving a trail of blobs of the same color behind, which later disappear. The ball jumps to the front of the screen, popping out of it, and then going back. It then bouces again, freezing, along with the trail. The ball then turns, revealing the text "INTRU" with the word "3D", both in white, with "3D" being much bigger than "INTRU". A trademark symbol is seen at the top right of "INTRU".

Variants:[]

  • From Shrek: Forever After onward, the text "Inside", in white and with it's own trademark symbol, is seen below the ball.
  • The ball and trail colors mostly vary by movie:
    • Monsters vs. Aliens, Megamind: Purple
    • Shrek Forever After: Green, and at the end two Shrek ears pop out of the ball.
    • Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon: Red
    • Puss in Boots: Gold

Music/Sounds:[]

Sound effects of the ball bouncing, a "whoosh", a "ding" and another "whoosh".

Music/Sound Variants:[]

  • The "Inside" version adds a metallic sound when the text appears.
  • The Shrek Forever After variant has three "popping out" sound effects.

Scare Factor:[]

None. The ball bouncing put of the screen maybe a bit to in-your-face to some people, but it is still fine and a rather cute thing to show before movies.

Friendly reminder to those who edit this page[]

Please DO NOT edit this page to include films after 2012 in the variants category. InTru 3D would have been dormant by the time the films were released, therefore, they should not be mentioned. Got that? Good.
