Background[]
Happy Madison Productions is a production company founded by actor and comedian Adam Sandler.
The first logo.
The second one.
Logos[]
1st logo (1996-2005)[]
A still image of a black and white goat in front of trees fades in. The goat appears to be sitting in the back of a Chevrolet truck. The company name "Happy Madison, Inc." in a gradient Impact font is seen underneath the goat.
2nd logo (2005-)[]
Over a space background, a white golf ball is coming out of a solar eclipse (a la Universal) zooming back slowly and rotating to our left with the words "Happy Madison" in the center at the top (in a cursive script designed to imitate the logo for legendary golf ball company, Titleist) and the word "PRODUCTIONS" (spread out in a more blocky Futura-type font) underneath. Suddenly, the background fades to a golf course scene and then the golf ball is smacked against the screen by a golf club, leaving the Happy Madison logo imprinted on the screen with a white outline and the appearance of the screen glass being cracked by the swing of the ball. Then, with the logo and glass-crack remaining static, we zoom back to reveal an elderly man in a golf outfit, holding the golf club that hit the ball, looking on at the logo and saying "Terrific!". The background then fades to black with only the logo remaining for another 1-2 seconds before it fades out.
Variants[]
- On Zookeeper, a still version of the Happy Madison golf ball on a black background appears at the end.
- On Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, another man appears on the left behind the golf club.
- On Grandma's Boy, the old man says "Oh, boy" instead of "Terrific!"
- On TV series like Rules of Engagement and The Goldbergs, the logo begins as the golf ball is struck at the screen and ends right there as well.
- On The Ridiculous 6, the logo turns sepia and the background fades to a mountain scene.
- On Hubie Halloween, the golf ball is replaced by a pumpkin and the old man is dressed up as Dracula.
Music/Sounds[]
1st logo[]
None.
2nd logo[]
The opening song of the movie plays over it with the golf swinging and a glass breaking sounds is heard.
Music/Sounds Variants[]
- On some films until 2008, it has a theme sounds like the 1991 Universal Pictures logo music which serves into a backbeat theme. The sounds & voice is intact.
- On Grandma's Boy, the old man said "Oh boy."
- Starting in 2008, it has a dramatic swelling choral theme, suddenly transitioning into a different breakbeat as the glass breaking sound occurs. The sounds and voice is still intact.
- On Paul Blart: Mall Cop, the opening theme stays over it with the sound and voice intact.
- On Hubie Halloween, an eerie theremin-like jingle plays at first, then a glass-cracking sound effect and a carnival-sounding theme that repeats four times, just with different pitches, are heard.
Scare Factor[]
1st logo[]
Low to medium. Some might feel that the goat is Baphomet, the goat incarnation of Satan. The lack of animation and the silence does not help, either. However, unless you're a fan of Adam Sandler's work, it's nothing otherwise.
2nd logo[]
It depends:
- Most Variants: Minimal to low. The golf ball being hit and coming toward the screen and the man talking might catch some off-guard, but overall this is mostly a funny logo, and nothing is even compared for the variant...
- Hubie Halloween: Medium to high. The ominous, dark atmosphere, the red words and the music could creep some people out, but, of course, this is intentional knowing the movie that follows it.
Neventheless, this is a fan favourite among those who are into Adam Sandler's work.
