Evil Owl Film

Background

The Evil Owl Film Manufacturing Company (aka Evil Owl Elokuvat) is a Finnish film company, founded in 1979. In 2009, it was bought by Finnkino Oy, and was closed by them on March 15, 2010. In 2016, it was revived, but closed again on January 16, 2020, and currently, their library is owned by Finnkino and SF Studios. In 2021, The Criterion Collection released a collection of all of Evil Owl's films. They did not have a logo until 1980.

Logo

(1980-2010, 2016-2019, 2021) On a forest background, we see a creepy owl with red pupils, with blood coming out of them fading in. Then, on it's cheeks, the words, "Evil" and "Owl" in a Chiller font is carved out. Then a blood splatter appears reading "Film" splats in. Then, it goes to static for 3 seconds, then it turns off (a la FOX Reality Original).

Music/Sounds

It Depends.

• (1980-2010) Andy Clarke's "Moog Statement 14" slowed down plays, then a tiny whisper saying "that evil owl" is heard, if you listen closely.
• (2016-2019) A thunderclap, followed by Moog Statement 14 slowed down as normal. But the whisper now says, "I want to eat your soul".
• (2021) A G Major Version Of The Pickle And Peanut Theme song And a Earrape Voice Says Evil Owl Film

Scare Factor

It depends.

• (1980-2010): Medium to High. The owl and gore blood may cause people to freak out, but the usage of Moog Statement 14 and the whisper will calm it down. But the 2016 variant is a different story...
• (2016-2019) High to Nightmare. The added usage of the thunderclap is unnecessary, and the whisper is something else. Speaking of the whisper, it saying it wants to eat the viewer's soul is unnerving and kinda satanic. This is known as the scariest Finnish logos by many, and is surprisingly one of the goriest, along with AKA Cartoon's "The Impaled Man", Cobra Picture's "Cobra of Doom", THRPB's "Ripped Panda", and Timpson Films’ “Ritual”.
• (2021) Nightmare. Due To The Theme Song and The Voice.
