Background[]

Belo Corporation is a media company based in Dallas, Texas. They specialized in the operation of various news broadcasting stations across 10 states. They were acquired by Gannett Co. in late 2013.

1st logo (1999-2002, 2003-2011): There is a blue tinted shot of the American flag waving in the background. In the center is "BELO". On the right side is a rotating shot of a satellite dish (one of those big dishes seen near the front or side of a news station building). As the satellite dish fades from view, the "O" in "BELO" starts to shine. Underneath the name is a byline that says "[News station's name] is a BELO SUBSIDIARY".

Variant[]

The background might have a teal shade.

2nd logo (2002-2011): The sequence shows various images relating to news journalism (though a shot of a little girl and a female firefighter are shown in the montage as well). The shot concludes with the same BELO setup from the first logo, random network mentioned as a subsidiary and the New York Stock Exchange symbol mentioned below that.

  • A short version exists, with the same BELO setup from the first logo, random network mentioned as a subsidiary and the New York Stock Exchange symbol mentioned below.
  • On the sign-on and sign-off sequences for WHAS in Louisville in 2007, it showing a female firefighter, then the same BELO setup from the first logo, the station mentioned as a subsidiary and the New York Stock Exchange symbol mentioned below are shown.

  • There is another version with the URL appears on the bottom.
