Some of you may have heard of the logos of CTC Media English (previously Badonkadonk). If not, it was a studio founded by the Brawn brothers (current assaulters and former comedians, filmmakers, and cartoonists Tony and Rob) on November 19, 1988, as The Studio Brawn. In January 2, 2007, the Brawn brothers moved to The Weinstein Company, with the new founder being Carl Yankee. It only had 5 employees until 2004. Both Tony and Rob were the chairmen, employees and head founders as well.
Logos[]
1st Logo (1988-1999): In a blank white background, we see a text named “The Studio Brawn” in drawing transition.
The Logo’s Scare Factor and Availability[]
None. This is a rather okay logo, but the drawing transition can be a bit weird. Also, the kinda weird piano music can keep some of those who are not used to it off guard, but it’s still a memorable masterpiece. The logo can be seen on the studio’s following live-action films, as well as their two animated films The Big-bang and Vacation: Animated. Do not expect to see that logo on some of its English dubs of foreign short films.
2nd Logo (1999): We see a white text on the upper top and the bottom that says “BADONKADONK, Studios, Inc.” in a bold font with black outlines, which you can see in a yellow background. This logo is done by CGI animators at the studio Wills Denver and John Denver. A flash FX hits into the text. There is none of the editor’s note or SFX, even though the flash may cause a bit of the eye seizure for some people.
Availability[]
Common, which this debuted on Bringing Out the Dead. It also appeared once on a storyboard for the pilot of Hunger Team Giant Squad, known as Christian Foods.
3rd Logo (1999): We see a B bouncing and its arms and legs popping up. It begins to yodel and the words saying Badonkadonk apart from a split bubble come out of the B’s hole. When it did so, the words “Studios Inc.“ fade.
Availability[]
Rare. This logo appeared in a Toecasfilm (a parody of Lucasfilm) parody of Howard the Duck called Howard the Toe. It also appeared on the CBS television film Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter's End.
4th Logo (1999-2000): In the logo as described, we see a text that says “Badonkadonk Studios Inc.” in a wacky cartoon font, with orchestra tuning playing in the background. Then the audience choirs “Play! Play! Play! Play! Play!” and a skinny bottle and Sit from Sit and Zits meet each other. The skinny bottle sucks and puffs its thumb and gets fat and fatter, also with the tail string pops up and Sit holds to it. When the skinny as now fat bottle puffs to its thumb and gets fat quick, the squish pop sound effect plays in that scene. They fly away, as that caused an audience to jeer. The unnamed rooster/bird hybrid plays a trumpet, which made the letters in the text above inflates and flies away as well, within others. The rooster/bird hybrid loses its eyes and color off and flies away, as well as the curtains closing and the lights going out.
Availability, Music/SFX, Scare Factor and Variants[]
Rare, and low. A short version is seen on the Nashville Network’s early commercial breaks, while a long version appeared on the Behind the Scenes, History Production and Backstage video of Mary’s Rough Day. Also, this appeared on Kikujiro (which marks as its last live-action film). The shot version also appeared on the first season of The Science and Magic Tricks Show!. Don’t expect to see this logo on the studio’s early pilots. Also, the loud jeering and the trumpet as well as the lost color and eyes can keep some of those off guard. The only music and SFX it had are some Hanna-Barbera and Spümcø sound effects as well as the Orchestra Tuning.
The Next 2 Logos[]
2nd logo from 1999-2000;2001[]
We see an unnamed guy whom tilts his moo can toy, and then the letters named “Badonkadonk Studios Inc.” in a wacky cartoony font rain and drop. We also see the guy putting the Moo Can in the B, so that the entire text inflates fatter and the white and black splits out.
Availability, Music/SFX and Scare Factor[]
Low to none. The letters dropping in a weird noisy sound effect can keep people off guard. This logo was actually seen as a VHS Home Entertainment logo, and was reused in Father and Daughter. Remade airings of it on anthology shows don’t have the logo in there.
3rd logo from 2000[]
We see a B’s mouth open widely and jumps far as the other letters pop out like jellies.
Availability, Music/SFX and Scare Factor[]
Same as 2nd. This logo was actually the early logo for Badonkadonk Home Enterprises, as it was seen on every beginning of VHS releases by the studio itself. A still version appears on the second season of The Science and Magic Tricks Show!.
5th Logo (2000-2005): We see a wire moving around with the Badonkadonk marquee snapping in.
Availability[]
Rare. This was seen on the 3rd and final season of The Science and Magic Tricks Show!, as well as the other works by the studio.
5th Logo (2005-2006): We see a Badonkadonk logo in purple glue popping as a surprise.
Availability[]
Common. This logo is seen on all episodes of Hunger Team Giant Squad, although some series keep the older logo in some airings. First debuted on the English dub of German animated direct-to-video film Fuzzed. Also seen on various Minigrys and also seen on some of its pilots. Do not expect to see this logo the 2006 Bulgarian/Belgian animated film on Adventures in Dog-Sitting.
7th Logo (2006-2015): We see a 2005 CTC logo turning on like a TV with TV turn on animation.
Availability[]
Uncommon. It actually appeared in some of its short films.
8th Logo (2015-present) We see a CTC Media logo without the "Media".
Availability[]
Like the 5th one. This was actually seen on the poor English voice-over for Fixies vs. Crab Bots, as well as more of its shows.
Scare Factor and Variants (2000-2005)[]
1st logo: Medium to nightmare variant. In Hunger Team Giant Squad, the ending theme plays over it. However, there was also a static weird "ding" when the Badonkadonk logo snaps in (also a variant of this) (Rob Brawn was actually responsible for the voiceover), as many viewers heard and may scare a bit of HGTS fans.
2nd Logo: Low variant. In the English dub of Russian cartoon Gems of Mountain, a static color bars can be behind the Badonkadonk 2005-2006 logo with a weird bleep heard that may take viewers off guard, and may rise on the show itself. Another version of the logo can be a second variant and has no bleep heard.
Eddie-shaped variant: Minimal. In the Lights, Camera, Christmas! special of Lights, Camera, Action!, the glue slam to the window may catch some viewers off guard.
3rd logo: Nightmare to low. In the beginning of the DVD release for a Russian cartoon nicknamed "Qumi-Qumi", we actually see the main lead, voiced instantly as static and on slowspeed. That may take Russian cartoon fans off guard, with another version of this with it talking and on regularly, normally as a third variant.
4th logo: Nightmare. In Qumi-Qumi shorts, a weird and noisy gloop can be heard.
